All About Activity Holidays in Scotland !

Hello, and a very warm welcome to our web site,

Let me introduce myself. My name is Richard Selwa and I am the owner of the Bankhead farmhouse. Every time my wife Alison and I passed Bankhead Farm in Scotland we would be struck by its awesome beauty and grandeur. The house is set on the side of a hill in the scenic Scottish countryside. We fell in love with it and decided that we simply had to have it. In 2002, our dreams came true when we purchased it.

We don't stay at the farm at the moment, instead preferring to share it by renting it out to those looking for Activity Holidays in Scotland . My intention is to retire there one day as it is such a beautiful and relaxing place away from the hustle and bustle of city life. We try to go there and holiday as often as possible when there is nobody at the house.

It might be a few years before I am able to retire .. well I guess it may be many years as business never goes exactly as we plan. Currently, we rent the property out on a weekly basis during the year to those seeking activity holidays in scotland . We have made sure that it is well-furnished and equipped with all the modern facilities for a comfortable stay. We have also got planning permission to build another large modern house and we hope that will be ready for rental in 2005.

If you have already been to the house you will agree that it is the most pleasant way to holiday for a week or two with family members or groups of friends ..and judging by some of the comments you kind folks have left you all seem to agree with me.

As you will have seen from the pictures ,the house is in 200 acres of the most beautiful countryside. It is a working farm but if you decide to rent the place you are welcome to roam around anyplace that there are no crops. Though set in the countryside you'll find plenty of holiday activity – from relaxing walks, wild life watching, golfing, trekking, sight-seeing – the works.

To start with, you could take a stroll up the hill at the back you will find there is an old iron age fort with a fantastic view of the Strathmore valley. For a leisurely stroll try a walk over the hill of Alyth. We have maps and leaflets in the kitchen that you can use to find some other great walks right from the door. Don't forget to visit Glen Clova and Glen Prosen to the North of Kirriemuir too while you are there.

The area is filled with attractions; a personal favorite of ours is the village of Dunkeld which is only 17 miles away. Here, you will find a whole range of outdoor activities that help you enjoy a perfect Activity Holiday and luxury accomodation in Scotland .. If you look through the brochures in the house you will find places worth visiting like ancient castles and beautiful gardens. Most of them are only 30 mins drive away.

If you are a golf-lover, you'll be truly delighted to discover two amazing golf courses at Alyth and Glenisla that are only half a mile from the front door. There is even a golf range at Glenisla that is mostly empty.
